Welcome to TAXI406.com a site dedicated to supporting the creation of replica TAXI 406 cars from the french movies called TAXI. The films star actor Sami Naceri, who is a TAXI driver named Daniel on the streets of Marseille iin France. He drives some highly modified Peugeot 406's around the city of Marseille.
My name is Jon (often known as TAXIMAN) I have been part of this and a pioneer in the replica TAXI community for over 10 years, and created my first TAXI car in late 2014. When I first started I wasnt making a TAXI as a true replica, i was making it for a charity event to make money for Cancer Research. The event involved driving the TAXI from the UK, across France into Spain ending up in Benidorm. On the run upto to the event, i documented making the TAXI by making various YouTube videos online. During the event I started to realise that as we were driving across France, that the car was attracting attention. The event was a great success and we managed to raise £1000's of pounds for Cancer Research. Upon returning to the UK, I parked the car up likely to take it to the scrap yard.
A few years later I decided to take the TAXI again on aother event and this time visit Marseille! In September 2016 i received a message from a guy called Toufik from the Northern Suburbs of Paris. He wanted after some help with his project TAXI 1 and asked if i could help supply some parts. I arranged to collect the grey leather interior for him from a car in the UK on a 900 Kms round trip and store it at my home until we could work out how to get it to france for free. I was then approached by a guy called Pascal from the North West Region of France to ask if I could collect some TSW wheels for him from a seller in the UK because he was building a TAXI2/3 replica, but this time he had a shipping solution and that was to meet a truck driver friend of his called Franc. These relationships were the start of me supplying parts into the early days of the taxi community, with many meetings with Frank to collect parts, as well as other truck drivers. Gradually overtime speaking online we started to talk about making the parts that you cant buy. I had already made many of these items in a primative way, and not so movie accurate this included the Glove Box panel for TAXI 1, The Tarrif signs and various badges for steering wheels, wheel and side doors.
The car in TAXI 1 was a white Peugeot 406 D8 Saloon registration 724 LNB 13. The car initally starts off as a standard saloon with grey leather interior, front and rear white window stripes and a magnetic Marseille TAXI roof sign. Gradually throughout the film the car transforms one of its most recogniseable features are the 17" TSW Imola wheels in Silver with the Blue Center Nuts hiding a grey set of Brembo brake calipers. Out of its boot a rear wing / spoiler emerges and the front bumper turns into wide race bumper similair to that of a touring car. Daniel replaces the standard steering wheel with a flat bottom SWM type on a SWM removable steering boss. The TAXI has a Marseille Tariff sign on the rear drivers side window. Its first transformation is triggered by a customer wanting to get to the Airport quickly. Daniel opens the glovebox to reveal an control panelfull of switches and gauges. The first switch he flicks makes the car raise up on air jacks to allow for the front spoiler transformation to take place. The second switch opens the boot of the car and the rear spoiler emerges.
The car in TAXI 2 was a white Peugeot D9 406 registration 2001 ZY 13. The car is initally introduced to you chasing the legendary wide body rally 306 on a course up in hills of Cassis in the Provence of Aples-Cote d'Azur. This taxi has a much larger front bumper with mickey ears on the roof and a slightly deeper rear spoiler. The taxi has black leather interior. The TAXI roof light is no longer magnetic and is permanently mounted on the roof between the mickey ears. Interior changes are that the taxi has an Isotta Steering wheel, the leather seats have pop out sick bags.During one of the taxi trips to the airport, we find that the sun visors drop down to reveal a cockpit because the car is able to glide in the sky with the aid of the fighter pilot joystick.
The car in TAXI 3 was a white Peugeot D9 406 registration 2001 ZY 13. However this although the same as in TAXI 2, has some additional features.
The car in TAXI 4 was a white Peugeot 407 saloon car. Unlike many movie cars now the features of this car werent CGI but were real and made by Christian Bonnichon

Easy things to find
Its pretty easy to find a Peugeot 406 car, of course you may not find a V6 but most replicas arent V6.. and maybe an unknown secret but the real movies cars werent orginally white but red, green and silver so dont be put off!
The difficult things to find
Some say finding the TSW imola wheels can be hard, however things like the correct steering wheel or taxi roof light can be just as hard to find. Be patient and speak to the correct people.
The hardest things to find
There are some things that arent available to buy off the shelf... which means you have to find someone willing to make them for you, TAXI 2 front bumpers require you to find a good body shop, the glovebox kits, mickey ears, gear levers and aero visors are all it which have to be made for you.
